Ingredients
2 cups fresh basil leaves, packed
1 / 2 cup freshly grated Parmesan-Reggiano or Romano cheese
1 / 2 cup extra virgin olive oil
1 / 3 cup pine nuts or walnuts
3 garlic cloves, medium, chopped
Salt and pepper to taste black pepper
You need special equipment: a food is available (see Amazon.com 's sales in the Cuisinart food processor.)
Method
1 Mix the basil with pine nuts, pulse a few times in a food processor. (If you walnuts instead of pine nuts, and they are not already chopped, pulse them first, before the basil.) Add the garlic, pulse a few times more.

2 Slowly the olive oil in a steady stream, while the robot is running. Stop to scrape the sides of blender with rubber spatula. Grated cheese and pulse again until blended. A pinch of salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.

Makes 1 cup.

Serve with pasta or roasted potatoes, or spread on toasted baguette SLICis.
